Being An Affiliate Requires Action

I wrote a little about this on a previous post, but I thought I’d go into a little more depth on taking action. I’m sure many people are at different levels of being able to take action, but there is a basic level at which if you just procrastinate you simply won’t make any money. Like anyone there are things I haven’t taken action on, like hiring a writer or two through Elance for my travel site, however, the site has been up and running for about 4 years. I’m talking about the basics here.

I used to have an MLM business (I don’t recommend anyone do MLM) and people who didn’t take action were the scourge of my business. There were around 250 distributors in my downline 120 of them were personally sponsored. I should have been more selective. Out of the 250 people in this business only about 10% of them ever took any action. So that means 225 or so never attended a meeting, never talked to anyone about the business and never even bought a product. I talked to all of these people and they all wanted to be in business for themselves. It’s kind of hard to be in business if you don’t have a business.

Translate that into affiliate marketing and that means there are millions of people out in cyberspace who desire to have some kind of internet presence, but will never take the first action to get there. They won’t start a website or blog, they won’t spend any money on advertising, they won’t talk to someone who knows their way around the net and they will probably never buy a domain name, they’ll just use a free service like Blogger or Google Pages.

Many are afraid to take action because they look at hugely successful bloggers or other Internet gurus and think that it’s just too much work. Yes, it is a lot of work, but everyone has to start somewhere. I didn’t get 25 websites, about that many blogs and around 4,000 pages of content by doing it all at once. It has happened one domain name, one page and one web site at a time through consistent action.

Here are some links to help you get started:

Don’t know anything about building a website or hosting or any of that stuff?
Here’s a complete beginners way to get started.

Don’t have a hosting plan yet?
I use 1and1.com for my BANS stores

Don’t have a domain name yet?
I use Godaddy.com to look up domains and if the one I want isn’t available I like their suggested names or premium names and prices. I don’t buy from Godaddy.com, I just like their domain name suggestion tool. I get domain names for $5.99 or $6.99 through 1and1.

Have hosting and maybe even a site, but want to find a fantastic affiliate opportunity?
I use Build A Niche Store and made some decent cash with the eBay affiliate program.

So now it’s up to you. You don’t have to do any of those things I suggested above, but please do something.

As soon as I finish this post I’m heading over to 1and1.com to buy 2 domain names for my next BANS eBay affiliate stores. What are you going to do?
