Who’s Going To Get Your Vote For President In 2008?

Shoemoney made a post about 2 hours ago asking his readers who he should vote for in 2008 and it has already received more than 80 comments in that short amount of time. It will probably turn out to be one of the most commented posts on his blog.

Everyone is giving their opinion as to who the best man, or woman, is for the job and many are quite vocal about their favorite. It is amazing to see people get so riled up over one person who they think can “change the country” and “give us a fresh start.” I’ve been hearing those terms in every election for nearly 4 decades now and you know what, the only person in this life who is going to make any meaningful change for you…is going to be you.

No President is going to help you build your websites, or guest blog for you, or go to Barnes & Noble and read up on the latest business news, or start your next killer PPC campaign, or write your ebook or anything else. You and only you are going to do that.

I just don’t like it when I hear politicians make so many promises and then people eat it up. All of us bloggers and affiliate marketers out here are taking a different path than millions of others who have decided to work at a job for a living (or are working in that direction) so we shouldn’t take the bait when the powers that be hang it out in front of us. You know all those promises are just a bunch of crap to get a vote.

This next election year will take a lot of discernment on the part of everyone of us if we are going to get the right person for the job. The people who make serious cash in their online businesses aren’t jumping on every deal that comes their way. How many times have you read that email promising you how some company’s affiliate program is the best, highest paying program in the industry? There is only so much time to pick your affiliate deals and work with the people and programs you are going to work with to maximize your efforts. We should be just as thoughtful and discerning of those promises when we pick the next President.

In the mean time…what are you reading my blog for, don’t you have a website to build?

  1. I completely agree with you. However, I do think that it is very important that we elect a president that doesn’t want to interfere with our lives, who won’t waste our tax money, and who will maintain/raise the falling value of the dollar. My vote’s for ron paul.

  2. “the only person in this life who is going to make any meaningful change for you…is going to be you.”

Spoken like a true Ron Paul supporter 😉

Seriously, I couldn’t agree more. If people were more self-reliant instead of looking to the government for everything, we’d be in much better shape.

  3. Hate to break the news, but I’m not a Ron Paul supporter.
