PPC Campaigns In The Black

If you’ve been reading Affiliate Confession for any length, you’ve probably come across a post or two where I’ve exclaimed how difficult it has been to actually make money from pay per click campaigns. I have in the past made a little money producing leads for an MLM company and for producing leads for retailing the air purifiers I sold through that MLM company. But since then, my PPC success has been pretty dismal.

Fortunately, the lack of success in the search marketing arena seems to be taking a turn towards the positive in the last couple of months. In one of the campaigns I’ve been running I’ve found a product I can direct link to through Pepperjam Network and I’ve had some limited success until I changed the landing page and lowered my conversion rate to zero. I’ll be switching this one back to the original landing page and adding money to my account tomorrow or later today and we’ll see if the conversions return. I’m running this particular campaign through Yahoo Search Marketing.

I’m also seeing some success by sending paid traffic to one of my BANS stores and although it is next to impossible to really know for sure how well a PPC campaign is working for one of these niche eBay stores, as far as I can tell it is working. Build A Niche Store does automatically add a custom sub-id to your links as they go into your EPN tracking so you are able to tell with reasonable certainty what page your winning bid originated from. You can also tell what specific products you sold by looking at your downloaded stats so you do know if traffic going to a specific product page is producing results.

I’ve read lots of info on PPC but none so easy to understand than what I’ve found at Super Affiliate Mindset. Amit Mehta spends around $150,000 per month on Google Adwords and other PPC campaigns and he ends up profiting more than $2 million per year just from his PPC activity. Needless to say, Amit is probably a person you should listen to if you are trying desperately to figure out how to be profitable at PPC like I am.

The biggest thing I’ve learned from Amit is to run individual YSM or Adwords campaigns with only a single word single keyword phrase in each campaign. I know this sounds like a pain, but this is the only thing that I’ve been able to do that gives my campaigns profitability. With this strategy you add your keyword to your ad and it keeps your quality score high enough that you get a good position and a relevant ad that people will click through on.

I’ll go more into how to find keywords that are profitable and will bring you some traffic, but for now, go read Amit categories on Google Adwords and PPC Marketing because there’s some amazing stuff there that just might help you get in to profitability with your PPC campaigns as well.

Sunday’s Thoughts – Freedom And Opportunity

Today’s Sunday thought is about Memorial Day and being thankful to live in the United States. Officially, Memorial Day is tomorrow, but today is just a great time to think about what this country means. I’m thankful for both the men and women who have given of their time and their lives to to see that we are free from tyranny and oppression.

In much of the world, because of the lack of freedom, people don’t even have the opportunity to surf the web, much less make money from it. Unfortunately a lot of people in the world are lucky if they even get a meal every day. In the United States we have an nearly unlimited opportunity to do whatever we want and we have so much money and leisure time we get to really enjoy life and make a better one for ourselves if we choose to work hard and smart enough for it.

This is an amazing country we live in and I salute the men and women who have served in the US military, are serving at the present time and to those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Thank you.

Nintedo DS Lite Arrives From RevResponse

Nintendo DS Lite From RevResponseThe prizes are starting to come in from the Webmaster Talk contest and yesterday I received the Nintendo DS Lite from RevResponse. The DS Lite is a pretty cool little game console that you can use an included touch stylus on and has some very good graphics for something as small as it is. It also came bundled with 2 games including the Cartoon Network Racing game and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

I messed around with Cartoon Network Racing yesterday evening and kind of got into it, but I’m not really into games, so more than likely, I will probably give the Nintendo DS Lite away here on Affiliate Confession. I already have a contest going on so it won’t be for a few weeks. I almost hate to give it away, but I’m sure someone else would be more into it than me. This may be a contest where you have to do a little more than just leave a comment.

I also got a nice letter from Karen at RevResponse congratulating me for being one of the winners at the Webmaster Talk contest. Karen also pointed out that RevResponse has a great referral system when affiliates sign up under you, you can earn 20% of their commissions for the first 6 months. If you don’t know about RevResponse it’s a bit different than your traditional affiliate program. Believe it or not, you actually get paid from $2 to $20 per action for giving stuff away for free. Sounds like a pretty easy way to make money, doesn’t it?

I haven’t had time to take a real close look at how things work with RevResponse, but you basically can recommend free resources to your readers such as magazine subscriptions, white papers, podcasts, software trials and more and earn when someone takes an action. You can’t just had these things out on the street and get paid for it, you do have to find quality prospects that would really be interested in the stuff you are offering. However, I have read in some forums of people making more than $1,000 per month through RevResponse, so it definitely sounds like something that’s worth taking a serious look at.

You can get more info on RevResponse here.

Market Leverage Adds $50 To The Free Shirt Contest

The latest blog contest being run here at Affiliate Confession is for a nice Nike golf shirt from Market Leverage, but just yesterday I got an email from Dina at ML saying that she would like to sweeten the deal and add a free $50 Market Leverage Rewards Card to the contest. The card is just like a credit card and can be spent anywhere that you can use American Express. Would anyone like to win $50 in addition to the shirt?

I love simple contests so all you have to do to enter is to leave a comment on the original contest post letting me know you’d like the Nike shirt and the $50 rewards card and you are entered. To make it easier, only comments left on that post will count as an entry to the contest. The winner will be drawn at random from all the comments on Wednesday May 28th.

Now, if you are an affiliate marketer, and I’m sure you must be if you’re reading this blog, then you should take a serious look at what Market Leverage has to offer. There are several affiliate CPA networks around, but none like Market Leverage. What sets them apart is their personal service and just simply the way they connect with bloggers and affiliate marketers. You also might be interested in the 5% for life commission you earn on any referrals you send to them. That’s correct, you earn 5% of the commission any affiliate that joins Market Leverage through you for as long as they are a member.

This is the industry’s highest referal bonus and you don’t want to miss out on it. You can check out more about what Market Leverage has to offer here.

And don’t forget to enter the contest for the free Nike golf shirt and a $50 Amex card.

Entrecard New Features, New Ebook And Contests

EntrecardLots of things are changing at Entrecard besides their new home page design. One of the changes they recently made that’s really the most significant since Entrecard’s inception is that you can now add multiple blogs to your account up to as many as you want. For those that don’t know, Entrecard is a blog widget advertising system.

You can add other blogs to your Entrecard account in one of two ways. You can either just simply add a new blog to your main Entrecard account or you can link accounts together. Many people have added Entrecard to their multiple blogs by creating individual accounts, so if you now have 3 or 4 accounts, you can merge them all together which will make keeping track of multiple email addresses and passwords a thing of the past. This is a very good move on Entrecard’s part.

And to encourage you to add additional blogs to your account, Entrecard is having a drawing for 15,000 credits in each of 5 different levels of adding multiple blogs to your account. If you add anywhere from 2 to 25 blogs you will get a chance to win one of 5 drawings for those 15,000 credits. That many credits can get you a bunch of advertising and will bring a decent amount of traffic to your blog.

Entrecard has also come out with an ebook as well and I know you’re probably thinking, what do we need an Entrecard ebook for, all we need to do is click, drop and buy advertising, how difficult is that? I thought the same thing, but found out the ebook does have a lot of good info in it. One thing I learned was that clicking on the Entrecard logo on the Entrecard widget on someones blog will take you to their profile. I’ve been wondering how I could quickly advertise on someone’s blog I like, without having to search Entrecard to find them. Here’s your answer.

I still wish Entrecard ads would run for 48 hours instead of 24 because I think it would be much more economical for the time spent on finding good advertising, but I am pretty impressed with the amount of features they keep adding to the service. Unlike many other blog widget deals, the constant development and tweaking of Entrecard is a big plus.

If you aren’t a member of Entrecard, you can join here and you can get the details of all their new features and the contest on their blog here.
