Over $41,000 In Affiliate Earnings For 2008

I’ve had a couple people ask me to post my earnings for the entire year over 2008 so I though I’d add everything up and see how it came out. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the total came in at just over $41,000.

There are a lot of affiliate marketers out there that make way more than this amount, and they do it every month, and then there are also a lot of wannabe affiliate marketers that never earn their first $100 and end up doing something else, like mlm or surveys (Does anybody really make money doing that?). I guess I’m somewhere in the middle of the big bucks and the nothing, but the most important thing $41,777.32 for a years worth of affiliate earnings brings me is freedom, and I’d rather have that than just about anything.

The monthly totals are listed below and you can click on the name of the month for a breakdown of the earnings for that specific month.

January Net Earnings – $3,211.68
February Net Earnings – $2,439.62
March Net Income – $2,746.44
April Net Income – $2,352.31
May Net Income – $3,029.99
June Net Income – $3,479.61
July Net Income – $4,312.31
August Net Income – $3,818.06
September Net Income – $4,740.63
October Net Income – $5,315.48
November Net Income – $3,324.31
December Net Income – $3,006.88

Total Net Income for 2008 - $41,777.32

My consistent money makers over this past year have been Adsense and the eBay Partner Network by using Build A Niche Store although my BANS store earnings have dropped off quite a bit since the middle of the year. However, I’m not giving up on my most profitable BANS stores and have a plan to bring them back to life with added content and article marketing.

Don’t fret if you’re not making the big cash of the top affiliate marketers because you have to start somewhere and there is plenty of room in the affiliate marketing space for lots of people to make $41k a year. This is just a stepping stone though and hopefully this year will push that total even higher.

  1. congrats! i wish you even more in 2009. Good luck, and keep up the good work.

  2. Congratulations!

I am on my way to make about USD 10 000 this year.

  3. Well done, sir.

  4. Congratulations…That’s a good solid income and having the ability to work from home and not from an office, cubicle or factory certainly has its merits!

  5. That’s amazing!
I am trying to find more about setting up our own BANS. How much commission does eBay pay per sale, anyway? I am just not able to find that information anywhere..

  6. Anand,

That info is here for US publishers:

  7. $41,000 is a great accomplishment! That’s a full time income. There certainly is money to be made in affiliate marketing if you keep working at it, and I think you provided a great example. Hopefully more people will be inspired to work on their campaigns after reading this. What’s your 2009 end of year goal?

  8. MLDina,

Thanks for the encouragement! I have a goal to make $10,000 per month in 2009 which would bring me to $120K for the year.

  9. Congratulations on your total earnings and good luck with your new goal! I know if you put your mind to it then you can do it!

  10. This is huge! Congratulations!!!

I’m just starting to crawl in affiliate marketing. Hopefully can reach 3 figure income from it soon.

  11. Brilliant. :) I’d be happy to earn anywhere near that amount. :O I just recently signed up for EPN, but I’ve read in some places though that it can be tricky to get it, and that they’ve expired some long standing accounts there.

  12. Congratz, it seems the 3 K mark doesn’t want to leave you alone. Try to beat the hell out of it.

  13. Outstanding Alan! , 41K is a terrific year and something you can build on for this year. 10K sounds great to me, good luck.

    Jason

  14. Wow! Great job. I know first hand that very good money can be made in affiliate sales. Some of our own affiliates are making high five figures a year.

  15. Scott,
    Can you elaborate on that?

    Alan
How long does it take to get approved. I applied to EPN some 3-4 days back, and I am yet to hear back from them! I am getting restless :D

  16. Anand,

I’m not sure how long it takes. It should only be a few days I think. I applied several years ago after being an eBay seller for years and I got approved right away.

  17. Hey Alan!

Great Job! I think this next year you can double that, easy! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

  18. Congrats, Alan! That’s a good, solid start.

I’ve started writing a series of articles aimed at affiliates – Tiny Steps to Success. How to make an extra $33,000 – which may help you push up your 2009 earnings a bit faster. Here’s the first article:

    Very inspiring.

  22. Congrats Alan. Really great and I must say motivating as well.

Keep up the good work, and I hope 2009 is going to bring you $410000.

    Cheers,

  24. Nicely done Alan! Keeping that up will make affording your sabbatical a breeze! :)

  25. Sean,

    Thanks for stopping by.

  26. Do you mind if I ask what your net revenue was? Or how much you spent on advertising? You don’t have to answer if you want to keep that private, I’ll understand. I was just interested :)

  27. Congratulations Man.

Those are some juice monthly earnings .

    way to go

  28. Nice numbers. Also nice for someone to share, gives you something to strive for.

  29. That’s cool. How many sites do u operate and how much time do u spend on the net each day. Wud u recommend a newbie to open a BANS store?

  30. Hi Alan, that amount is great achievement I envy you, hope to be more success in the future, I only make small amount. And I am still doing research what works and what does not works to my marketing systems. Thanks for sharing

  31. WOW in October you have made over $ 5K, good to see you are going great. All the best for year 2009.

  32. Nice work. This is impressive. It is also very kind of you to share this information with others who are learning about affiliate marketing.

  33. Thanks for sharing that with us. A lot of internet marketers don’t care to open up about their earnings. I wish more could be like you. Your progress will motivate me. Congratulations and thanks again.

  34. it is big value for me…
now i just can imagine to be like you, get much money from affilate :D

  35. That’s awesome – way better than anything I’ve ever managed to do.

By the way, was the income spike in Sept/Oct due to Halloween?

  36. Best Deals,

No on the halloween stuff. It just came from some good ppc campaigns.

  37. dog training,

Thanks for stopping by, glad to be of help.

  38. Congrats for your HUGE earnings :)

  39. I just created my never blue account, it just seems hard to find a campaign that fits my niches perfectly….

  40. This is kind of an envy here.. Guess there is still a long way to improve for my earning stats..

    Ben

  41. Another legend in internet marketing has born

  42. I am so appreciative of the fact that you listed your earnings. It gives me something to aspire to and I love your blog.
I’m curious, why do people purchase so many domains and not use them – is it just to preserve a domain name just in case you have need for it in the future?
    Angela

  43. Angela,

Domain names can be considered the real estate of the internet. Some can be worth millions, others a few thousand if you’re lucky. I have about 50 domain names total of which I’m doing nothing with about 30 of them. Maybe I’ll sell them at a later date.

  44. HI Alan,

Isn´t this like an MFA site? I guess you have to create content with some reviews about the products a or something. I am not very related to BANS.

    Luis

  45. Thanks for the earnings report. I really like affiliate marketing as there are so many opportunities.

  46. I can seem to make money easily from adsence but very little from affiliates. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

  47. Well done! Like you, I’m also combining Adsense and Affiliate Marketing. I’m only getting started and it would be great if I could achieve similar numbers by the end of the year.

  48. Well, I guess I have a lot to learn :S

    CONGRATS MAN!

  49. In 2009, you are surely on your way to make 10k+ per month based on your March’s results which is really inspiration to us smaller publisher. :)

  50. Congratulations on such good showing for affiliate revenue. It just shows that there’s a lot of money earning potential in affiliate marketing. But it takes some effort, a good affiliate program and knowing which niche to target.

  51. Affiliate need to focus on what the real visitor are looking for and from that point you still have to hustle into sales conversions.

  52. Hi Alan,

I just bought a new domain but haven’t published it yet. I found out that you can earn from adsense on it even so, but I don’t know how because all I see are 1&1 sponsored links on it already that don’t belong to me.
Is this something you do too, can you tell me how it’s done if so?

  53. Wow. I WISH i was making even half that much. I am going to read up on your BANS via Ebay.

    Thanks.

    Dan

  54. Great job. Congratulations on all your hard work and its fruitful results.
